'From a hairbrush to a headliner,' singer tweets of image, which shows her singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom.

In the mirror next to her, she's dolled up in a sparkling red costume and bright blue hair, singing into a candy-cane microphone. "Be yourself and you can be anything," the poster reads.</P><P>The big reveal came with a bit of a contest. The first 20 people who were able to put the full poster together out of the puzzle pieces she'd released and tweet a photo to @KatyPerry using #KP3D will be picked to have a chance to see their Twitter handles featured in the closing credits of the colorful 3-D flick.</P><P>The July 5 release was directed by Magical Elves' Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, who also served as producers on Justin Bieber's successful "Never Say Never" concert movie. In a <a href="/news/articles/1682426/katy-perrys-part-me-concert-film-gets-personal.jhtml">trailer released in early April</a>, fans got a taste of what they would see and hear in the flick, including Perry's candid confessions about her religious childhood and her split from Russell Brand.</P><P><a href="/news/articles/1681607/katy-perry-part-of-me-concert-movie.jhtml">MTV News spoke to Perry</a> in March about the film, and she explained just what fans will see in it. "It's closing the chapter on [my album] <i>Teenage Dream,</i> but it's giving you such an inside perspective," Perry said. "This film, you're going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything."</P><P>The movie was filmed during her California Dreams trek. "That tour was so life-changing to me. I learned so much, I went through so much along the way," Perry said. "I'm not necessarily trying to prove anything to anyone, but not only will people really hands-down know me after they see this film, but you'll see me as the Dorothy wearing the red ruby slipper and at the end of it all I'm the [Wizard of] Oz as well."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Katy Perry - "Part Of Me"" id="vid:750667" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>

'I still love her as a human being,' MTV Movie Awards host tells Ellen DeGeneres.

<P>Russell Brand has only the kindest words for his pop-star ex, Katy Perry. The actor chatted with Ellen DeGeneres on an episode of her talk show <a href="http://ellen.warnerbros.com/2012/05/russell_brand_on_katy_perry_0517.php" target="_blank">airing Thursday</a> (May 17), and when asked about the split, Brand said that while they are no longer together, he still loves and respects her.</P><P>"I still love her as a human being," the comedian said. "But sometimes when you're in a relationship, I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="MTV Movie Awards Host Russell Brand's Greatest MTV Moments" id="vid:767722.id:1684833" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life," he added. "Sometimes things are just different and then you have to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and with each other with any situation."</P><P><a href="/news/articles/1676631/katy-perry-russell-brand-divorce-details.jhtml">Brand and Perry announced their split</a> in December 2011, after a year of marriage. During the interview, he added that she's "a person I still consider to be beautiful. ... I have nothing but positivity for her. She is [an amazing person]."</P><P>The actor/comedian is now poised for a busy June. Brand is set to <a href="/news/articles/1684832/russell-brand-2012-mtv-movie-award-host.jhtml">host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards</a>, which will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. This marks the third time he's hosted an MTV awards show, having hosted the Video Music Awards in 2008 and 2009.</P><P>And it seems that his signature cheeky humor will be in full force at the show. "MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things: movies and awards. The singer tweeted about the shoot, teasing that the video will play some part in her forthcoming 3-D big-screen spectacle <a href="/news/articles/1682426/katy-perrys-part-me-concert-film-gets-personal.jhtml">"Katy Perry: Part of Me,"</a> out in July.</P><P>"3rd long ass day of shooting ... the new music video!!!!! #workinggirl," she <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/katyperry" target="_blank">tweeted</a> late Wednesday. "About to shoot one of the last scenes for the music video ... "And I had that idea while I was writing the song."</P><P>In the same interview, Perry talked about the dreamy breakup track. "Well, there were two songs that I had from <i>Teenage Dream</i> that I couldn't put on, it was 'Part of Me' and 'Dressing Up.' And then I knew we were doing the re-release and so I was like, 'I got to get in the studio,' because I can't wait eight months to be able to put out this feeling that I'm feeling right now," she said. " 'Cause God knows, it would take eight months to do another record. I couldn't do it on the fly, to set up records it takes time.</P><P>"So I was like, 'I'm getting into studio.' I had two days to write and I wrote it with my regular crew," she said of working with Dr. Luke, Max Martin and <a href="/news/articles/1679282/katy-perry-new-music-deep.jhtml">Bonnie McKee</a> for the song. "Then I had two days to record. It was literally ... I submitted the lyrics before I submitted the music because it was by the hair of my chinny chin chin that I put that song on the record. But I have a film that's coming out in the summer that's like a concert documentary. <P>Another one bit the dust, but this one wasn't hard to see coming.</P><P>After two weeks of shocking elimination episodes, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/topic/american_idol/">"American Idol"</a> took a break from the surprises Thursday (April 26), sending perpetual bottom-dweller Elise Testone home.</P><P>Testone, the 28-year-old from Charleston, South Carolina, had faced elimination so many times that "Idol" mentor Jimmy Iovine joked she had a "vacation home" in the bottom three.</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:763747/cp~vid%3D763747%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A763747" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>Testone came up on the short end of the reported 58 million votes cast following Wednesday's performance episode, where she took on Queen's "I Want It All" and a very wordy rendition of Jimi Hendrix's "Bold as Love." Following the Hendrix song, Randy Jackson told her it "wasn't the right song for this time in the competition," and on Thursday's show, Iovine called Testone "a great singer who makes bad choices." He called "Bold as Love" a "double down on bad decisions."</P><P>Testone, the oldest of this season's finalists, sang Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" during her exit. It was one of her signature songs of the season.</P><P>Testone was joined in the bottom three Thursday by Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine. Laine was sent back to safety immediately, leaving Testone and Cavanagh to await their fate.</P><P>According to host Ryan Seacrest, the 58 million votes cast were 10 million more than the number of votes cast at this point in the season last year.</P><P>Queen Extravaganza, an official Queen tribute band, opened the show with a performance of "Somebody to Love." The episode also saw performances from season 10 "Idol" contestant Stefano Langone — who now goes simply by Stefano — who did his debut single "I'm on a Roll," and Katy Perry, who in a taped performance did a military-themed "Part of Me."</P><P><i>What did you think of "Idol" on Thursday? <P>When it comes to the various ways in which celebrity couples offer up public displays of affection, the ante was raised yet again when <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1683636/kanye-west-kim-kardashian-nyc-spotted.jhtml">Kim Kardashian was spotted over the weekend</a> wearing earrings with the initials of rumored boyfriend <a href="/music/artist/west_kanye/artist.jhtml">Kanye West</a>.</P><P>But Kim is hardly the first star to wear her heart on her sleeve (or in her ear). Let's take a look back at five other unique celeb PDA:</P><P><big><b>Tattoos</b></big><br> No matter how well De Beers has ingrained their slogan "A diamond is forever" into our brains, nothing says "I love you forever (hopefully)" like getting a tattoo of your lover's initials, name and/or face. There are so many examples of celebrity couples who have expressed their love via this method that we could write a separate story. The couples who immediately come to mind are Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, who both got their first-ever ink in celebration of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1586974/mariah-carey-nick-cannon-wedding-photo-released.jhtml">their marriage</a>. Other examples: Tori Spelling's hubby Dean McDermott has his wife's face and décolletage on his arm, Marc Anthony had "Jennifer" on the inside of his wrist before their split, and David and Victoria Beckham.</P><P><big><b>Blood Bonds</b></big><br> Before there was Brangelina, there was the eyebrow-raising romance and eventual marriage between Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. In addition to getting relationship-inspired tattoos to celebrate their love, Jolie surprised everyone by adorning her neck with an amulet that reportedly contained a <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=105269&page=1">few drops of Thornton's blood</a>.</P><P><big><b>Music Videos</b></big><br> If you're a musician and in need of a love interest for your music video, why not invite your real-life love to make an appearance in said clip? In addition to several warm fuzzy stories that involve couples meeting on the sets of their music vids (Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova), there are plenty who have featured their boyfriends and girlfriends. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1682676/jennifer-lopez-dance-again-boyfriend-videos.jhtml">Jennifer Lopez is <i>the</i> leading example</a>, first with Ben Affleck's cameo in "Jenny From the Block" and most recently with new love Casper Smart in "Dance Again."</P><P><big><b> Social Media</b></big><br> The advent of Twitter has brought the world a lot of things — over-sharing chief among them. We've become privy to the inner-workings of celebrity couples, thanks to their back-and-forth interaction on the social-networking site. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher basically kicked things off by frequently tweeting cute musings back and forth. They are survived by Khloé and Lamar Odom, Carey Hart and Pink, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, and Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey (again with the PDA!).</P><P><big><b>Nail Art</b></big><br> Before their very public breakup last year, Katy Perry took the whole PDA-by-body-art trend to another level when she showed up on the white carpet at the 2010 VMAs with then-husband <a href="http://style.mtv.com/2011/08/26/vma-katy-perry-nails/">Russell Brand's face printed onto her fingernails</a>. <P>It was more than just the music that Katy Perry took in over the weekend at Coachella in California. The single pop star was seen also taking in the affections of what appeared to be a new boyfriend. The singer was spotted holding hands, kissing and generally canoodling with Florence and the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. This was the second weekend in a row that Perry was at Coachella. She <a href="/news/articles/1683145/katy-perry-hair-coachella.jhtml">debuted her new hair color</a> at last week's festivities, and this week, it looked like she was debuting her new love.</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/spotted-daily-celebrity-sightings/1617615/7094306/photo.jhtml"><b>Click for pix of Katy and Robert canoodling at Coachella</a></b> The couple were photographed Sunday. Perry was in a lavender romper to match her brand-new purple locks, while Ackroyd sported a plain, white T-shirt and jeans. When Perry tweeted about this past weekend's festivities, she made no mention of her new beau, instead writing about Radiohead and her dream to make a Sublime hologram happen, à la the much-talked-about <a href="/news/articles/1683173/tupac-hologram-coachella.jhtml">Tupac Shakur hologram</a>. <a href="/news/articles/1676631/katy-perry-russell-brand-divorce-details.jhtml">Perry split from husband Russell Brand</a> back in December after two years of marriage. She's remained relatively low-key in the love department since the split. She had been momentarily <a href="/news/articles/1678573/madonna-super-bowl-katy-perry.jhtml">linked to football star Tim Tebow</a>, but she laughed off the rumors at the Super Bowl, when she dedicated her track "Peacock" to the quarterback. While Katy seemed to be all smiles while chilling at Coachella with Ackroyd, sources told <a href="http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/katy-perry-makes-out-with-florence--the-machines-robert-ackroyd-2012234" target="_blank"><i>Us Weekly</i></a> that the singer is still dealing with her split from Brand. "Katy's been trying to get [Russell] back!" a friend said. "She's a lost soul right now." After spotting Perry at his Coachella set, M83's Anthony Gonzalez offers to write singer's next album.

<P>M83's Anthony Gonzalez has taken his widescreen electronica on the road with the likes of Kings of Leon and the Killers. He's recorded a double-disc answer to the <a href="http://exclaim.ca/Interviews/FromTheMagazine/m83s_double_standard" target="_blank">Smashing Pumpkins' <i>Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness</i></a> and has even seen his work show up in the occasional Miley Cyrus song.</P><P>But after his set at the Coachella festival this past weekend (yes, there were artists <i>besides</i> <a href="/news/articles/1683173/tupac-hologram-coachella.jhtml">Holo-Tupac</a> that performed), he's really dreaming big: He wants to make Katy Perry's next album.</P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:751562/cp~vid%3D751562%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A751562" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center></P><P>"I think I saw Katy Perry dancing [to] 'Midnight City' yesterday night," Gonzalez wrote on his Facebook page following his performance. "Katy, let me write your next album!"</P><P>For the uninitiated, "Midnight City" is the fantastic single off M83's dynamic 2011 double album, <i>Hurry Up, We're Dreaming,</i> and yes, Perry was right in front when Gonzalez played it (here's <a href="http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/04/14/article-0-12970D17000005DC-821_634x864.jpg" target="_blank">photographic proof</a>). And following the performance, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/katyperry/status/191038484792885248" target="_blank">Perry tweeted</a>, "M83 ONLY." But does any of that mean a collaboration between the two might be in the works?</P><P>We're not sure, but when MTV News sat down with Perry last month in London — for the premiere of her <a href="/news/articles/1681551/katy-perry-part-of-me-music-video.jhtml">"Part of Me" video</a> — we asked her to name her current favorite artists, and she definitely let it be known that M83 was at the top of her playlist.</P><P>"I've been listening to, well, I guess it would have to be M83's last record, this past record," she said, before singing a few bars of "City." "I think I'm going to see him at Coachella. Oh man, I'm so there. I love it so much."</P><P>Of course, she didn't stop there — turns out, Perry's also fallen under the spell of Björk's <i>Biophilia,</i> too. So could the follow-up to <i>Teenage Dream</i> turn into a decidedly <i>cool</i> affair? Perhaps.</P><P>"The latest Björk record is incredible [too]," she said. "I was doing some fashion stuff two weeks ago and it was all Björk, and I was like, 'Oh my God, it's so electrifying.' I could never be her, because she's one of a kind. <P>After <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a> teased her fans that she had completely <a href="/news/articles/1683089/katy-perry-new-hair.jhtml">changed up her hair</a> last week, she went back to black ... sort of.</P><P>Perry debuted her much darker locks at the <a href="/news/articles/1683139/coachella-radiohead-day-two.jhtml">Coachella music festival</a> over the weekend. After sporting neon-hued hair for some time now, the singer's new 'do has a black undertone with navy, deep lavender and eggplant highlights throughout.</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:755505/cp~vid%3D755505%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A755505" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>And while she had been favoring shorter hair over the last several months, her new coiffure is long and wavy.</P><P>Perry even <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/katyperry" target="_blank">tweeted</a> about her new look from the music festival, calling out the pop culture moments that inspired her outfits, which ranged from a long, see-through boho dress to a goth-inspired black dress, the latter of which she wore Friday, explaining, "In honor of Friday the 13th The CRAFT is the inspiration for this evenings lewk ... #takemyscars #coachella."</P><P>A day later she shared, "Today's lewk is sponsored by courtney love, virgin suicides & fern gully #nymph." That's the day she was spotted in her see-through boho dress.</P><P>On Sunday, Perry tweeted, "Todays lewk is sponsored by hot topic meets twilight. #ashish." She was photographed in a short, bright floral print dress, ripped-up tights and clunky shoes.</P><P>Before she hit Coachella over the weekend, Perry hinted that she had every intention of looking to the '90s for inspiration for her style. "Pretty stoked about my 90's The Craft meets Garbage meets Tank Girl meets early No Doubt meets Ty from Clueless lewk 4 dis wknd #ohmygoth."</P><P>Over the past 12 months, Perry has been particularly experimental with her hair color, most recently sporting a berry-blue color. "She's kind of this candy-coated sort of person," her hairstylist <a href="/news/articles/1678155/katy-perry-blue-hair-stylist.jhtml">Rita Hazan told MTV News</a> earlier this year. "Finally... #takeaguess #foreverawalkingpantonepalette."</P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:755505/cp~vid%3D755505%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A755505" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center></P><P>Despite not sharing too much about her hair color, she did <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/katyperry/status/190716163318231042" target="_blank">offer up</a> this tidbit of a tease about her current look: "Pretty stoked about my 90's The Craft meets Garbage meets Tank Girl meets early No Doubt meets Ty from Clueless lewk 4 dis wknd #ohmygoth."</P><P><a href="/news/articles/1678100/katy-perry-las-vegas.jhtml">Perry had famously been sporting berry-blue hair</a> since January, changing the hue and length but maintaining indigo as the base, strutting her blue self all over carpets, hitting up events and wearing it in an <a href="/news/articles/1677278/katy-perry-adidas-commercial.jhtml">ad campaign for Adidas</a>.</P><P>"Of course, being Katy, she is a lot more edgy and she's cooler and she likes to take a lot of risks. And I love that she's like, 'I'm feeling a little blue, let's go blue' — not in her energy, just in her hair color," <a href="/news/articles/1678155/katy-perry-blue-hair-stylist.jhtml">Perry's hair colorist</a>, Rita Hazan, explained to MTV News. "I felt like it's the perfect color for her, because her eyes are blue and she has the perfect skin tone to be a really vibrant, really cool, intense blue."</P><P>Now, it seems that Perry has once again changed up her look — and Hazan said that's just Katy being Katy. "She's kind of this candy-coated sort of person," Hazan said. "It's nice to see her experiment with different things."</P><P>Fans might have to wait to see what Perry's latest look is, but to tide you over, MTV News has rounded up some of Perry's wildest, most memorable hairstyles — so far.</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/katy-perrys-five-best-hairstyles/1683083/7066439/photo.jhtml"><big><b>2010 Kids' Choice Awards</b></big></a><br> Perry kept it traditionally Katy, sporting what happens to be her signature look: black hair with cropped, Bettie Page-style bangs. To make the look even more Perry-fied, she graced the carpet in a multicolored, sparkly, showgirl-style bodysuit and sparkly heels.</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/katy-perrys-five-best-hairstyles/1683083/7066457/photo.jhtml"><big><b>2011 Grammys</b></big></a><br> In a particularly glam moment, Perry softened her sometimes-severe hair and went for soft waves. Transitioning out of the black, Katy hit up the "Smurfs" red carpet in July surprisingly not in blue hair, but in an ombre look that faded from blonde to strawberry blonde. It was a look she adopted right before going blonde and then settling on the blue. <P>Many fans have been curious about what pop star <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a>'s next record will sound like — especially considering her much-publicized <a href="/news/articles/1676631/katy-perry-russell-brand-divorce-details.jhtml">divorce from comedian Russell Brand</a> and the heavy recent single "Part of Me." Well, Perry herself is here to tell you the album is going to be "real f---ing dark."</P><P>Talking to <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/4244886/Katy-Perry-news-Singer-says-she-wants-to-sing-miserable-songs-folloowing-her-marriage-breakdown-to-Russell-Brand.html" target="_blank"><i>The Sun,</i></a> the singer was rather blunt about her feelings toward her failed marriage, saying, "I'd like to use a time machine and go back to a specific date, please." You'd never see my face because my hair would be in it," she continued.</P><P>In other Perry news, while the singer has yet to dive into the acting game — outside of cameo appearances and voicing Smurfette in last year's "The Smurfs" — she's revealed that she almost got a bit part in last year's Academy Award-winning film "The Help."</P><P>"There was a time when I was going to be involved in 'The Help' — just a small part, I wasn't going to be Emma Stone or anything — but I couldn't because the shooting schedule conflicted with the release of my record," she lamented to <a href="http://www.teenvogue.com/industry/coverlook/coverlook-may-2012/katy-perry-teen-vogue-photos#intro" target="_blank"><i>Teen Vogue.</i></a> "And I was upset about that; I knew it was going to be an important film."</P><P>Although she didn't get to appear in "The Help," Perry has her very own 3-D film coming out this summer. <a href="/news/articles/1682426/katy-perrys-part-me-concert-film-gets-personal.jhtml">"Katy Perry: Part of Me"</a> is a documentary as well as a live concert film, much in the vein of Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never."</P><P>"I wanted to show people this parade that surrounds me. I wanted them to see the engine.
